DEBORAH, Episode 2
I wept, wept and wept after Collins told me he is done with tha relationship. I kept wondering what could have happened? I kept asking myself. Why is this happening when it is almost time to our wedding. I kept weeping, asking God, why?
Psychologically I wasn't myself for days, after Collins told him his intention of breaking out of tha relationship. Aunty Simbi questioned me, several times asking me, if I have offended Collins. I told her any time she asked me that I did nothing to Collins. Aunty Simbi kept wondering as well. We were all in tha same thinking.
All my friends kept asking me, what have I done to Collins, I do tell them I didn't do any thing. Becky, Seun, Sandra, Modupe and I were all in Modupe's room. There was a knock on tha door. Modupe asked, Yes! Who is it? It is me Collins.
Sandra shouted at Modupe, don't try and open tha door for that devil. Collins roared I am not a devil, Modupe please, is Deborah here? Sandra replied, what are you looking for again? Deborah is not here. Please park and leave, Collins still at tha door, he roared again, Sandra you are not Modupe. Modupe interrupted, yes Deborah is here. Collins pleaded to Modupe to open tha door.
Finally, Modupe opened tha door for Collins, I shouted at him, you are a devil! Go away! He smiled, he said to me, I am not tha devil. Sandra was uncomfortable where she seated, she kept mumbling words but Modupe kept calming her down.
Sandra busted tha air, she asked Collins, Mr man! What do you have to say? Collins smiled. Seun who didn't say anything before tha whole senerio got furious, she shouted at Collins and said to him, Ogbeni(Mr) if you don't have anything to say than to be smiling, get of this room, you this green snake under tha green grass.
Modupe told Seun to calm and take it easy on Collins. She faced Collins and said to him, please Uncle Collins do you have anything to say? Collins replied, I have something to say. Collins faced me and begged me for breaking my heart, I was soaked with tears. He tried to touch me but I shunned him off. He smiled, he asked me in a gentle voice, who is Boluwatife and Owolabi? I shouted at him that I don't know.
I asked him how are tha names he mentioned connected to our relationship he got broken? He replied gently, but those names I mentioned are your children, don't pretend here. All of a sudden his countenance changed and he raised his voice in anger and said to me, Deborah! You are tha devil. You never told me you have kids.
All my friends were all astonished and kept wondering how did Collins got to know, Collins continued in his anger, saying I did my investigation, I went to your village and ask more about you and I wanted to know more about your family.
Deborah, it was through my findings I got to know you have kids. How dare you hide these things from me, and I told you everything about me. Deborah how dare you do this to me?
I and my friends, knelt down begging Collins, but he declined, all our pleas fell on his deaf ears. He said there is no going back, that he can't continue. Collins stood up and told me that he would have continued, but I covered up something that is so big like that. He went out of tha room.
Oh my world! That was how I lost Collins to another woman, I never wished to loose him for, how I wished I told him everything.
I went to his house including my friends, to beg him. We pleaded, pleaded, pleaded but Collins declined. Modupe asked Collins, why did you went to her village to investigate if truly you trust her? Collins replied, I don't want same thing to happen again, where I fathered a boy for 10 years right from baby. I fathered a child that is not mine, my ex lied to me that I owned tha pregnancy. Had it mean that Deborah told me everything, I will still go ahead and marry her. But she covered up.
I bursted into another phase of tears. Collins told us to go out of his house.
That is tha story of my life. Till now, I am a single mother, 50years of age. I blamed myself for not telling Collins about my two children I left in tha village before coming down to Lagos, those years.
